having problems starting after engine is hot

i put all new electrical parts on my truck after i run for a while the truck doesnt have any power at all engine wont turn over just acts like it is dead....the only thing i haven't changed is the external resistor on the coil could this be my problem..??

Did you swap out the starter? Is the coil real hot after you run it for awhile.

My mustang did the same thing after I installed headers. The starter was geting to hot. After letting it set for a while it would fire right up. I finally switched to a high torque mini starter. Got more clearance and better torque. Never had a cranking problem again.

THe resistor on the side of the coil is 90% most likely your problem. It and your starter are getting way too hot. You may need to replace your starter if you have been frying it for a long time, otherwise you need to get a heat shield of some sort. The tin-foil velcro wrap-around ones work well. You can find them at like all parts stores.
