body mounts

Post by OLE69F100 »

How and the heck do I get the front cab mounts off!! I stood up on the frame and put a pice of rebar in the hole and hammered away but nothing. Am I going to have to get the torch out or what :?

apply constant pressure. Flat bar, prybar.
What usally happens is the steel rusts and expands inside the rubber which makes like teeth. And it'll hold on tight.
Otherwise, cut them flush with the frame with a sawzall they'll come right out

If you've got the nuts removed, you might try jacking up the front of the cab with a hydraulic floor jack to break it loose from the frame. Put the jack under the rocker panel and be sure to use a flat piece of wood (2x6) between the jack and the cab, to prevent damaging the rocker.

i have had to sawzall off some of them. since it sounds like your cab is off that mihgt be the way you have to go. a torch would burn the rubber and just make a big smelly black mess to clean up.

Thanks for moving this I never know where to put some of my crazy questions. The cab is off so I guess I will break out the saw and get them off. The back one popped out with a few wacks but the fronts are a little more stubborn. Thanks for the replys I just didn't want to bend something that I might need later.
