E-Bay/Paypal word of caution, if you're a buyer!

Post by basketcase0302 »

Hey ya'll,

Thought I'd share a recent ebay expierence with everyone here in hopes that no one here loses money like I've recently done.

Ebay "power-seller" ponderosamustang":
http://myworld.ebay.com/ponderosamustangco
had listed model#1281 petronix ignitor here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 76868&rd=1

His auction clearly states "If you need the 6 cyl ignitor, email us for availability". Which I did, (and have proof of).
His response to my email was, "You can hit the Ford auction and at time of pmt, give me your engine info so we can get you the correct parts. thanks Matt", (which I have proof of also).

So I hit the "buy-it-now" and send him my 6 cyl info in the ebay/paypal payment "note" screen.
This is the only place that either ebay or paypal now has to send the seller a note with your payment!

Long story short....seller sent me the wrong part.
I'll lose $15 to insure and send it back to him, trusting he'll send the right part the 2nd time? No way...
Only proof that I sent him the model information was in the "note" section of my ebay/paypal payment.
Which will not give you an option of printing even if you hit print preview while you're at that screen!

You also can't go back to this particular screen once you've paid for an item!
Yet another way ebay has protected their "power sellers" to allow them to run amuck!

Ive been on ebay since 2001. In this time a lot of good and bad expierences. Oh well....we live and we learn.
Bottom line here: don't buy an item unless it's listed as exactly what you need! No matter what a seller tells you!
Beware of this seller!
