Instrument Cluster Removal

Post by delaire »

I have a '70 F250. I want to trace a short and would like to pull the instrument cluster. There are 8 screws on the frame of the cluster. Does anyone know how it comes out and if there are any pitfalls. Thanks.

Just eight screw, unscrew the speedo cable and pull it out far enough to either access the wires you need .Or unplug it pull it out and reposition it and plug it back in should you need more access and the panel connected to trouble shoot your needs.

One other piece of advice: Disconnect your battery before messing with the instrument panel. If a hot wire is bare in there, you can fry your harness in an instant.
