Just checking to see if anybody here has any pics of their 205 that they twinsticked. Preferably one behind a 435 with stock adapter. I just ground down my rail and was looking at fabbing up the handles and brackets this weekend.

Ever seen an M715? They're still pretty common. If you know of any sitting around where you live, ask the owner if you can poke around underneath and check out the T-case linkage. Better yet, if you can find someone parting one of them, just buy all the linkage. It's really nice HD stuff

The M715 uses an NP200 which is an NP205 with both outputs at the bottom like a dana 18. It came from the factory with twin sticks. Probably how offroaders figured out they could twin stick a 205. The M715 used a T-18 4 speed, but the T-18 is physically identicle to a 435. The big issue would most likely be making the sticks pop out on the driver's side of the tranny. Sure it wouldn't be too hard to make the bracketry fit the opposite side of the tranny.

Just a quick question here.

Why would you twin stick the transfer case?

Being that the truck is a fullsize and given the length the twin stick will help in turning tight corners on the trail. When twinsticked it will give me the use of front wheel hi and lo as well as rear wheel hi and lo, and also the standard 4 wheel hi and lo. I will be able to pull the e-brake and put it in front wheel drive and "pull" the front whichever direction. Very easy mod to do if you take your time.

Imagine - U-joint go out in the rear drive shaft in 20 degree weather 200 miles from home! Small luxery that might only get to used twice in a lifetime. Just lock front and go. Keeps ya from having to take the rear shaft completely out to get her home - what 4- 1/2" nuts and usually greasy fingers. Of course driveshaft loops go hand in hand with this theory as well.
But on trail is the major advantage! Why would you have 4wd if you aren't going to leave pavement? Seems like a waste of 3-400 pounds.
I plan on ts'ing mine. Still gathering info for now. I'd love to see your ideas at work willysrul.

The reason I have it is when I tow or especially now in the winter in case I need it.

Tried to do the same with a 2wd and it just couldn't quite cut what I needed it to do.

Also with this sytem I would assume that to run in 2wd mode you would put the rear stick in high mode and the front stick in neutral?

Correct to get 2wd rear. Front stick goes in N and rear in either hi or lo. This truck will very rarely see pavement. It is being built to play in the rocks. The mod is pulling the range rail and grinding down the detent sections with a bench grinder. I'll get some pics up next week. I'm going to fab up the levers and linkage this weekend. I also just got a hydraulic ram to convert to hydro assist steering. 8)

I have double cases and the back case is twin sticked in my Toyota. Although I don't have the option to do front digs I find it very useful on the trail. It is nice to be able to go into 2wd low when trying to make a tight corner with the frontend locked up. ARB would be nice in this case also, but thats a whole lot of cash yet for that mod.

Yea I have a long wheel base for the rocks. That will change as time goes on. I plan on taking about 10-12 inches out of the wheel base. I'm shooting for around 120-122 with 42 inch tires and run this on 4-6 inches of suspension lift. Hello sawzall.

That is the websight I used for my twinstick conversion,along with some other articles in various mags.

I have the levers ready to be welded to the linkage, however being sick for the last few days halted progress. Updates will come maybe next weekend.

One of the future plans of this particular build includes a doubler. I want to use the range box off a Ford NP203 t-case and mount it in front of the 205. That would give me rear dbl hi-lo, hi-lo, 4wd hi-lo, 4wd dbl hi-lo blah blah blah. In the end crawl ratio would be about 132:1! :D

Got the sticks hooked up. Ground down my own rail and got the sticks from JKW Offroad. Super easy install. Grinding on a bench grinder then reinstall, grind, check, grind, check. The grinding took a little over an hour (I would grind 1/16th then check). My other 205 rail (that's going in my Willys) took about 10 minutes, now that I know what I'm doing. The sticks and linkage took all of about 5 minutes. On the bench it slides through gears like butter. Now I can been in 4Lo and slide the front axle out of gear to turn easier and then slide it back in gear while the input and output are spinning! Now to get this pig back in the truck, and then WHEEL IT!!!!!
