If you have a C4 auto, shifting points?

Post by jzjames »

If you have a C4 automatic which is a 3 speed, at what speed does it shift form 1-2, and 2-3? I think my C4 is operating normally, but it seems to shift 1-2 at under 10 mph. Is that normal for this trans?

The shift ponits really depend on how the vacuum modulator is adjusted.

Most do short shift from the factory, in an attempt to improve fuel economy.

Sounds normal, here's the stock shift speeds:

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

Does the C4 have a shift kit in it? A shift kit builds fluid pressure quicker and at partial throttle the trans will shift at low speeds just like yours is doing.

OK I didnt know that. I dont know if it ever got a shift kit before I got it. Its probably a normal C4. I keep hearing comments that they do tend to shift through a little quicker. Thanks for the feedback.
