HELP! Need help with shift rod bushing

1969 F100 2wd automatic. On the end of the rod that connects to the linkage on the transmission (from the shifter), there is a bushing. I can't find this bushing listed anywhere in NPD or Autokrafters. Have any of you folks replaced this bushing, and if so, what did you use/where did you get it? Mine is completely gone and it's affecting the thing staying in park and shifting properly at times (seems when I shift from R to D, it's not going all the way in drive and making it shift weird. If I shift from P to D, it's fine).

Not me, sorry. I'd like to know to, I had to get mine from the wrecking yard.
I hate that bushing, it's a b*tch getting off and even worse putting it on. Ford could have done it better.

If you can learn what the dimensions of the bushing were-ID, OD and length-any machine shop can make you one. I know you don't have a bushing to measure, but the information may be available somewhere, or maybe you can guesstimate by measuring the hole it goes into?

Problem with that is that it's more than just a bushing, it doubles as a retainer. It snaps on the the shift rod and then snaps in the shift lever on the tranny.

Really? My rod has an E clip on the end of it. I wonder why someone doesn't make this in the aftermarket? I bet more than have of our old trucks could use one.

The kick-down uses an e-clip. The shift rod uses this stupid bushing, an e-clip would have been much better.

Looking at a parts illustration of a C6 the base number is a 7341, and it looks the same as the bushings they used till the mid 90's. What trans do you have and I'll see if it's still available when I get to work tomorrow. I won't be able to get back to you probably until late tomorrow as our dealership blocks all non APPROVED web sites.

I can't believe that nobody is reproducing these, so hopefully they are not discontinued yet! I need to replace mine also, it's getting a bit sloppy.

Could you post a picture once you get one? I am curious to see what it looks like, what would be involved in making one (or many)

I use Motor Might or also know as the Help line they come in red packs and are available at all jobber parts stores. I think the retainer off the AOD trans works as well.

I'll take a pic when I find where I put the extra one. I grabbed two when I was at the wrecking yard, there seems to be two different sizes.
