Can you describe the squeak?

Is it a constant or a chirp or possibly intermittant?

Please tell us more so we can help.

j/k I'd put the rear end on jackstands and put the truck in neutral and turn the rear wheels. Be safe though.

The squeaking and chirping will stop when the U-joint breaks and the driveshaft falls out.

And which end comes out... if the back comes out it will just drag... if the front comes out.... Well, are you a big fan of pole vaulting?

There was an episode of MythBusters where they were trying to duplicate that very scenerio....where the front U-joint fails and drops down, pole-vaulting the car into the air. They rigged up a remote-control car and took it out onto a large parking lot, and then using another remote control device was able to 'blow' the front J-joint on command. They had a HECK of a time getting anything to happen! The one time they were able to time it just perfectly by letting the driveshaft drop down into a pothole they did have some success, but nothing like you'd expect. Pretty tame, actually. I believe they considered that myth busted...or at least plausible but unlikely.

I saw a 4x4 truck with a trashed frame just like that when I was younger.
Happened exactly like that. broke the front joint on the rear shaft and it dropped into a hole. pushing the rear axle almost out of the truck before the shaft bent up like a pretzel.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!
