Steering Box

The steering box in my 1971 Ford has "FoMoCo" stamped on it so I know its a Ford part. How can I tell if it was the original box that came stock with the truck? The steering column is not original and I need to change it out so it would be helpful if I knew whether the box was stock or not.

You can find pictures of the steering gearboxes and columns in the tech papers, power steering install. The ford box was the same from sixty-something up through '79 on the 2 wheel drive models.
