Hello from Texas, I am Edward,
For the last 5 years has been looking to purchase the perfect truck to restore. F-100, no rust, short bed...etc. End up purchasing a 1971, F-250, long bed, without an engine. Looking to make a daily driver. Originally equipped with a 360/C6(transmission currently on the truck)I will appreciate any information and shared knowledge. Thanks, Edward

Susgestions
My 1971 F-250 do not have an engine was purchase as roller. The C6 transmission still in the truck. I am debating in purchasing a remanufactured 390 and everything that goes with it, or an newer engine. The engine bay is empty even the radiator is gone. What would be the right approach it will be a driver. Thanks Edward.

Welcome, I’ve merged these together since there were duplicates but they have slightly different information, I will do the same in the engine forum where its probably more appropriate and will probably get more answers.

My '87 F150 has a C6 behind a 5.0 EFI small block. Not sure but the 5.8 option was available that year and may bolt up to the C6. from Georgia !

Re: Hello from FT Hood, Texas
from Colorado! The 390 FE would be a preference over a 360 FE as far as desirability. It depends on whether you are doing a concourse restoration or you just want a nice daily driver and don't care if it is concourse. The 390 FE 2 barrel was the largest engine put in the bumps from the factory, but a number of people put 428's, 429's and 460's in their trucks.
