Tailgate binding
I’ve got a 67 F100 with a tailgate that doesn’t want to close easily. It appears the supports/straps are binding when the tailgate is about 1 inch from closing completely. I have to push with my fingers on the strap hinge point (and risk pinching myself) to get everything to close correctly. Are there any common bugs I should be looking for? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Tailgate binding
I would try putting a little 3 in 1 oil at the joint to see if this helps, also check to see if the rubber stops are there and in good shape. These are the black rubber stops that the strap rests against when you close the tailgate.

Re: Tailgate binding
Excellent advice! The black stops are there and in good shape. I oiled the hinge area of both supports as well as the attach points. Everything works great now! Amazing what a few basics can accomplish. I don’t think oil had been used in this area in years!
