Belt configuration

Post by MikeB »

Hey Y’all
I sure would like some ideas of how Ford weaved these belts. My truck originally came with Ac (now gone)but not PS, has the two belt alternator and a space above it for a idler pulley assembly. I’ve added PS and will add the ac in future. So what’s the best way to run these belts? Those of you with a 360 , ps and Ac I’d like too see how yours is set up. Especially if you have a double belt alternator.

Thanks for any info.

I figured it out. Double pulley alt is really to provide two belts for water pump. Inside belt alt-wp-crank. 2nd groove wp, ps, crank. Third groove on crank (wider than other two), ac, idler pulley. Finding the idler pulley assembly will be difficult.

Looking at the 3-sheave crank pulley, the inner most sheave runs the WP (inner) and alt; next sheave runs the WP (outer) and PS. The third sheave runs the AC and goes around the WP. The dual alt belt is not used on trucks with PS and AC.

I tried to attach some pics but the files are too large. I can email them to you.

BTW, I have the adjuster idler pulley and 3-sheave crank pulley, and the factory AC assembly complete with dash controls. I had three set-ups and restored one for my truck, sold one and have one left.
