the engine compartment so far

Post by Thundercat6870 »

I am waiting on the steering box rebuild kit so I am still working on the de-rusting. I will be painting the engine in a few days. Most of the parts are off the blue truck which I sent to the graveyard because of the rust and wreck. I just rebuilt the frontend, the rearend, the 87' engine, the power steering, column, and the pedal assembly all from the blue truck. Not bad for not taking the body off the frame.

Is white your final color for the body?

Great job, looking good indeed.

White is probably not my final color. It was white when I bought it so I continued it underneath for now to keep it from rusting. I could see when I took the bed off and decoded the door tag that it was originally a wimbleton white and sky view blue two-tone. I may go back to the original colors later on but for now it's sealed from the weather. I can't believe how very little the rust is on the truck and it has all the original panels Including the tailgate. This is my third one and I've never seen one in this good of shape. It's originally from South Carolina and must have been garaged because I can put my hand in the roof from the headliner and inside the driprail is smooth and has zero rust. I'll be sealing that next to prevent any of the cancer I've seen in other trucks. Thanks for the great comments and I'll post more updates when I get the engine in.
