What are these?
In the pic, what is the cable referenced by arrow #1?
What is the decal referenced by arow #2?
(it is not the tune-up specs, that is on the other side)
Original photos here:

Thanks!

Re: What are these?
The cable looks to be your heater control. The decal could be an emissions decal.

Re: What are these?
Heater cable is just to the left of the arrow.
Emissions decal is on the other side. See all the original photos for more detail.

Re: What are these?
I am not sure but will take a wild guess. On some of the special ordered trucks they had the pull for overdrive, maybe that. And the decal could it be on the wrong side?

Re: What are these?
You can see a different (and correct) decal on the other side in the other pics.
In the interior pics and in the description there is no mention of an overdrive. That said, I have never seen an overdrive so I will not comment on whether you are correct or not... I don't have a clue..

Re: What are these?
I have a cable coming through the exact same spot on the firewall of my 71 highboy but instead of crossing over to the passenger side, it goes straight down below the master cylinder -- er, uh, brake booster -- and travels across the top of the driver side frame rail to the back of my transfer case. So, I'm gonna say speedo cable.
Here's an example of an emissions sticker:
I thought you said the tune-up specs were on the driver side valve cover?

Re: What are these?
Those are the tune-up specs....
A rose by any other name...
The one on the passenger side looks to have a Ford script in negative of the one you are showing.
As for the cable, seems odd, but I think you are right as there is no cable coming down on the drivers side...

Re: What are these?
By golly they are. About all I can see is whats at the top. I tried to blow up the picture of the truck you posted but it's just as blurry blown up as it is to me small.71PA_Highboy wrote:Those are the tune-up specs....

Re: What are these?
I would hazard a guess that the cable is the speedo cable. It comes out from behind the instrument cluster and then worms around to the right side of the motor where the cable hooks up at the transmission.

Re: What are these?
That truck is an automatic so it's not an overdrive cable.

Re: What are these?
what ever it is, if you cut it you'll find out. just kidding. I'd trace that sucker even if it means taking loose the clamps and see where it goes. If there's aftermarket A/C it could be controlling the passengers side vent. The decal you're looking at is the output specs for the alternator. You should be able to find it at Dennis Carpenter's. PS that sucker is wayyyyyy too clean. You need to get it dirty

Re: What are these?
Mine would be that clean if it only had 358 miles on it. http://www.fordification.com/70explorer_358miles.htm
Re: What are these?
I see two cables. Not sure which one the arrow points at. One is the water flow control for the heater. The other is the speedometer cable.
