Electrical tool for adding and removing pins...

Post by sublimer »

I'm replacing my turn signal switch...I need a tool to put the wires in the connector. I have no idea what it's called. Link? Thanks!

The wires crimp into the individual terminal pins then the pins clip into the connector.

There are tools to remove pins, but I've never seen anything special for crimping terminal pins onto wires. They crimp the same as anything else.

Ahh, yes, wire crimps!!!

Now a follow up question...

Which pins should I buy for the turn signal switch?

I would imagine you'll need to deal with a hefty minimum order quantity if you shop around electronics suppliers- Allied, Digikey. Possibly there are other dealers that specialize in these parts in small quantities, anyone else know?

Vendors and manufacturers provide exact dimensions for small electronic parts like these. If you can measure your old ones you can match them up to new ones.

I never personally bought a Bump turn signal switch that came unterminated. If I did I would consider carefully removing the old pins from the old wires and re-crimp/ solder them onto the new wires.
