Here's a couple of pics since I know how everybody likes em'. I cleaned and painted up the Performer intake I swapped the Offy for. I also recieved the fan, clutch, gaskets, and chrome open element Summit Racing air filter thats going on it. Today I test fit the carb to the intake andsaw that the linkage hits, so I'll need a spacer for it. I'm thinking I may try to find a ford 4 barrel spacer with the coolant passage in it for good atomization, unless I see a four hole spacer at the auto parts store.

Hey woods, just fyi I decided to go ahead and get a factory aluminum spacer with the coolant passage in it and vent tube port. I got one on ebay shipped for $20. Thanks for the offer anyhow!

Hey, it's no problem at all. I really like the idea of using the stock style one so that was why I went ahead and got this one. I want to be able to hook up the coolant passages and crankcase vent the way they are like the factory did it, so it's all good! I can't wait to get it all installed...

I kinda hate to rain on your parade, but because of the PCV hookup, you'll have to find a way to seal the bottom of the adapter at the rear.

It's not a square base, unfortunately...

Damn! You're right. I hadn't seen that until now. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to modify it to work. Thanks for the heads up though! I would have had one huge vacuum leak. I've used these before, but it was with a factory intake.

EDIT: actually, after looking at it better, I'm not even sure that the base of the adaptor is going to seal to the edelbrock manifold. I think I just tossed $20 out the window....

Pretty sure you could make maybe a 1/4" plate that would fit the profile of the adapter. Then you could use a regular gasket between the manifold and plate, then the correct adapter gasket between the adapter and your plate.

I've thought of doing that to mine (I have the C6AE-G S-code manifold, so I have the same issue as with an aftermarket), just haven't gotten around to it. Pretty sure it would help me with my carb-icing problem.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a brand new 1" phenolic spacer with studs included for $17 shipped, so I'll probably try it out and see how she runs. It probably would have cost $10 to ship the one that woods was going to give me all the way to St. Louis, and since this one comes with studs I figured what the heck. I've never had the carb icing problem here before so it will probably be fine.

Got my fan and fan clutch installed the other day, and just as with the electric fan I can absolutely tell the difference in the way the engine pulls rpms and seems like it doesn't have to try as hard (especially above 2000 rpm or so). Most of my parts are in for the 4 barrel swap also. Since I have a lifter that ticks at idle on very hot summer days after an hour or so of running I decided to go ahead and install new lifters while the intake is off, so I'm still waiting on those. Phenolic spacer got here today.

Which begs the next question; do phenolic spacers require gaskets???

Cool, thanks! I saw phenolic intake gaskets for some foriegn jobbers and it made me wonder. I think I may have time to start taking her apart tomorrow afternoon.

Porgress as promised! Today I managed to get her all taken apart and pull the intake (while trying not to give myself a hernia). Still waiting on the lifters. If they don't get here by tomorrow I'm gonna be pissed....

So did stock engines have yellow paint on the valve springs? Makes me wonder if it's a rebuilt motor that was installed at some point in time.
