Re: Tubs
Thats awesome Bobby... When you are all done (which is always never, I know...
), I may have to hire you out to help me with some welding on mine. Plus your truck is just a huge influence on some of the things I want to do to mine. I am contemplating taking a welding class at COC up here, but just never have the time. Welding was something I always wanted to learn how to do and now I have plenty on my truck where it would come in handy.

Re: Tubs
Good evening Bobby,
I love the way you've widened the wells while keeping the factory look--that is fantastic! They look much more refined than other widened wells I've seen. They look like they were meant to be that way.
And the new tires look plenty wide to me--they're monsters! I can relate to what you're saying though about them seeming a lot wider in a different context. If they'd been crammed in a space pod with you, on a vacation to a distant planet, that effect would have been even greater. And I'll bet those tires smell even better than they look!!!

Re: Tubs
Rich, I urge you to take that welding class. My dad had an auto repair business and when I was about 10 years old he taught me to oxy/acet weld. He would let me practice with whatever scrap was available. It's still as fun to fabricate and weld now as it was when I first learned. You will enjoy it and you will look forward to project after project. Thank you for your positive commentsCalfdemon wrote:Thats awesome Bobby... Robroy, thanks. I wanted to keep the stock tub look so that only the trained eye would be able to spot it (post paint). The tires are very sticky, I can go two or so inches wider if needed but these seem to be just the perfect width/traction combo for my set up. I can't wait to get the front rims painted and mounted.robroy wrote:Good evening Bobby,

Re: Tubs
Those tubs look great I really like the way they do look very close to stock! You posted some rims awhile back with grabber blue paint, beauty rims and little caps. It looks like those are the rims on the back. I think that will look great with those tubs and tires. Good job!

Re: Tubs
This is a great post. I was contemplating on how I was going to do the same. how much did you really gain with the springs still in the way? or did you do a spring move. I'm thinking of a 4 link or moving the springs on the inside of the frame, to gain more room. what your rim size and how much backspace are you running? anyway way, nice job. keep up the great work, its looking good. Trick

Re: Tubs
I widened the tubs 3-1/2". Wheels are 15X10 with 5" backspacing, tires are 325/50/15's. Still have 3-1/2" from the inside of the tire to the spring.trick wrote:This is a great post. Thats awesome. I saw the same thing done on a Chevy in Hot Rod magazine many years ago and always liked the idea. Want to do it to mine eventually.
