Rotory spray gun

Post by Mancar1 »

Got this the other day from a Uncle. Filled it with water and it seems to work well. Anyone used one of these with paint? Are they worth using? I have a couple airless, and a air one, but this is new to me. Even if it is a old one.

It's an interesting piece of equipment thats for sure. I can't say I've ever heard of a rotary spray gun, but it's probably twice my age at least

OK, it's 3:15 AM and I'm feeling a bit silly, but how does a rotary spray gun work? Plug it in and let it spray in a 360 degree pattern all around the gun? Hope it's got a long cord so you can unplug it before it runs out of paint, or you're going to get a racing stripe painted across your mid section when you go to turn it off. :P

OK silliness aside, that is a neat looking spray gun. I'll bet it would work great on primers and single stage paints.

I had to google it out of curiosity and they sound like pretty cool deals! Instead of using air to turn the paint into a spray, they use the inner rotation of something something (the only sites I found that had info were really technical, seems like they're typically used in pretty heavy duty applications now). I'd say it's totally worth putting some paint in and trying out!

Tried it on a piece of cardboard, it works pretty good. Has a shaft that spins and sprays the paint out. It has a sliding door that opens about 3" down to a slit and that adjusts the spray width. It works as good or better than my wagner airless sprayers. Their sure isn't much to clean after use. Think I will use it to paint the north fence.
