Sorry, no updates! I'm a HVAC guy in the residential replacement field and we are SLAMMED! Between work, the house, and the baby I hardly have time to have a cold beer, let alone work on any of my own projects. I'll post when I get some more done. The port and polish is whats next, but right now the bare casting is just collecting dust on my workbench. Here is my list of projects that need to be completed:

Laundry/storage room painted (floor, stairs, and walls all the way up) and shelving put up
Stuff moved from garage and organized in said room
Sump pump electric box and conduit fixed
Install 13 seer A/C and coil that is sitting in corner of garage
Change oil in truck and Jeep
Build roll cage for 6x6 (new toy)
Install winch on 6x6

and probably about 10 other things that I can't remember right now because of sheer exhaustion....

You can see my engine in the other 300 post. I went with whatever is in the bottom end, a new distributor, an MSD, a Weber, and some Harland Sharp roller rockers. My speedo reads a lesser speed than I am making, and consequently my odo is slow.

I ran a copy of fuel log on the ford, and I'm getting 15 MPG, WITHOUT correction for traveling longer distances than I am reading on my instruments. My speedo reads 5 MPH low across the board. I have no idea what gearbox or diff ratio I've got. I can tell you in third I make 40 MPH at 3500 RPM.

that dude's build no-nos thread says no roller rockers... well, lemme tell you, I see the difference running them. Those friction washers really take a lot away from your efficiency.

Nope; if it makes you feel better the Wheelhorse got new wheel paint and bearings, a new air filter, a new muffler, carb adjustment, and deck shaft bearings! Plus my laundry room got floor paint and I was able to move all the shelves and storage items back out of my garage and into the laundry room again. Oh, and this past weekend I finally installed my new a/c and evaporator coil in my home. Plus I got to use my 6x6 for the first time! :D

I know it doesn't do you any good, but every thing I get done around here gets me one step closer to workin' on the 300 again...

Thanks ! I'll start looking for it at the parts stores !!

One more question. Did you paint your timing cover & waterpump or did you blast them or what? I've blasted cast stuff in the past, but it always gets dirty & grungy. Just wondering what you did on yours ?? :hmm:

I've got some leftover aluminum header paint from a previous build that I used on them. I couldn't tell you how it will look after some use, but it looks pretty good right now!
