Repair Manual

Post by wdaiii »

This board looks like a great resource!

I recently bought a '71 F 100, and look forward to learning about it as I go. I am having a lot of trouble finding a manual, such as Chilton or Haynes for this model. Is there such a thing? Looking forward to interacting with some more knowledgeable people as I get to know my new truck!

:wel: from Texas! :fr:

The only repair manual I have found is a fairly generic one that covered from the mid 60s to the mid 80s. Not exactly sure what years and I think it was a Chilton.

Copy and paste this into the search bar at Amazon.com:

Ford Pick-ups, 1965-86 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual)

This is the only manual I know of for our trucks. I have this one. It's pretty good, but it assumes you have a decent knowledge of mechanics.

Good day Will!

I'd recommend buying an official Ford manual for your truck. If you spend a good amount of time on the computer and are comfortable printing things out once in a while, I'd recommend the Detroit Iron manual on CD-ROM.

In this thread, I posted a review of the CD-ROM (it's the third reply): Has anyone gotten those shop manuals on CD from Ebay?

:wel:, From NC! I have a '71 as well, as for manuals I have a Chiltons manual that came with my truck, but after seeing how much more detailed the Ford service manuals are, I can tell you that they are definitely worth every penny if you plan on doing a lot of work to your first bump . Good luck with your restoration! :fr:.
