For those who are in Christ, there is no death. Only a passing from life to Life.
He was a very warm and engaging person. I look forward to meeting him.

I was hoping to make it out west to visit some famiy ansd scout some land in central-western OR, somewhere near Albany or Salem, and during that trip i was hoping to make a stop by the kaptn' to see the bus and the cs in person. I miss him pretty good.

While thinking about this today, a Paul Overstreet song 'What's going without saying (should be said)' came to mind. The bridge goes '...No one needs our roses when the sun of life's gone down; if you're going to send a message of love, send it now...' We're thankful for Alan's influence but we've also got living friends and relatives that need to hear from us how much we appreciate them...

Seems like I can not scroll through the forums here without reading a post from The Kaptn. I am sorry to hear that he has gone but glad to hear that he was as ready as any of us would be. I know that he will live on here at least. There will always be a part of him here with us. I'm sure his posts here will go on helping people in some way for years to come. My condolences for the whole family. God Bless Allan...

Also along the same lines, those of you who are close and may be interested, as soon as we figure out the whole probate thing, his truck and bus will be for sale. Unless someone un beknownst to us lays some type of claim to it. Not looking to make a bunch of money on it, but would just want it to go to someone who wants it. I know the truck is very close to done with the exception of paint and bleeding the brakes, he even has all the parts for the disc brake conversion. Any money raised will go to pay off any debts he may leave, donation to his church, and I'd like to see some donated here in his name. This site and all y'all great folks here truly meant a lot to him. Thank you all for thinking of him, being his friend and for your thoughts and prayers they are truly appreciated. After probate and the truck becomes available, I'll make sure to post it here, as I'd truly like to see it go to someone who remembers him and would think about him now and again while riding in his 68.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I consider myself privileged to have broke bread with him a few years ago at a small meet and greet.

A good good man.

A great loss for everyone who knew him. I considered him a friend, eventhough we never met. I always admired his sence of humor, and his witty replys. It is a sad day...
