What do you keep in your bed-side tool box?

Nothing in mine yet but in my old truck I kept a fuel pump. I also had a Craftsman 100 piece tool box and some shop rags and a flash light. I put my last truck together to carry a 12 foot slide in camper and I thought it came in handy. Never had anything go bad in it.

ide love to have one, an in bed box takes up precious bed space and with the tank behind the seat, the only room i have is under the seat

not much of anything good, a old tire irion and a cheepy jack only.
because picking up my tools and junk off the road pisses me off bad. You load the thing up good and do a fast left turn and fwing out goes all the crap on the road. also the stuff rattles and bangs around in there so bad it drives me totaly nuts and bonkers.

I like my tools behind my seat in the cab, along with all my other good junk.

I put some padding in , so I keep as much soda (mainly various types of cola) as I can stuff in there. I'm gonna put my tool,chains,etc. in my aluminum box.
I don't have to jump up to get my soda with the bed-side box.

that is a great idea, but then you have to walk out to your truck to get a pop, itwould suck in winter here, the pop would freeze but fall would be good cause it would be constantly cold

and its with you where ever you go too, perfect for fishing and camping.

I wish I had a picture over here but I don't, I put in mine a DC to AC converter mounted with some threaded rod. And than a couple extension chords. When we going camping I can run lights, or a radio, and it has come in handy when I go down to the bottom fiel to pull parts off of trucks. I used it once to run a sawsall to cut exaust from a Transmission I was trying to pull. My bed also set in a garage for 30 years unmolested, so I don't collect moisture in there yet. I haven't had any problems with it.

I LOVE mine. I hammer welded a tool box to a wedge shape (lengthwise) so it would sit crosswise in the front. In it I have old tool sets-sockets, comb wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, elec repair stuff etc in it. It's all quite organized. In the rest of the box I have a 4 way, hyd jack, tow rope, tire chains, jumper cables. Never had it leak or fly open. It has all the stuff you may need in a great out of the way spot. It's pretty secure too, because most people don't even notice it. I don't want something in the bed taking up room, this one takes no extra room. I like to haul motorcycles or anything else without something in the way. I think it's a terrific option!!!

Towards the end of the month I'm going just south of Chattanooga into N GA to pick up my new 8 foot bed, and it happens to have this option, so keep writing in on this thread, gives me some good ideas about what to stick in there. Are these things plastic or steel on the inside? The one in an old 78 F150 we had had a heavy duty ABS plastic liner, just curious if these in the old bumps were stamped steel or plastic. Reckon I'll find out soon enough. As the the doors popping open, might consider replacing that old paddle latch with the newer T-handle type that doesn't have that problem, much more secure. Had one of those old paddle latches on an under-bed box on one of my old rollbacks, lost a lot of tools on the road before I replaced it.

I have a tool set, jumper cables, towrope, some rope, bottlejack and a bottle of power steering fluid in mine. And a star wrench. All kinds of things.

Those bed side tool boxes are usualy rotted out by now around here in the rust belt!

I think they are virtually identical. I used the latch assy off a 78 model because I didn't have a key for mine. As I recall, the liner is the same too.

My '71 is all metal. The latch is solid as well, no issues there. Those who have them popping open should take a look at their latch and adjust it as needed.

My box has jumper cables, a tire iron, an incomplete tool set, an incomplete 12V compressor, and some other junk my grandfather put in there about twenty years ago.

Just fill the roll cage with spare oil and put a tap on the front bumper.
