My 72 Sport Custom F100 (Shes alive!) 10-21-2010
Pics of recent work I have done.
Rebuilt front passenger side brake and cleaned and painted the radius arm and I beam, coil spring, drum and backing plate etc. Then my brother decided he would pressure wash the driveway.
Pulled trim off passenger door to get a better look at the rust. I may replace the door instead of welding patch panels.
Cut out rusted area in cowl/firewall. Surprised at how solid the cowl is.
This is a view of the area from inside the cab, looking through the radio hole. The rust that you see goes out to the folded over lip on the firewall.
Think if I clean it up and paint with POR-15 Ill be ok?

sweet , id definetly replace that door.
inside that cowl doesnt look bad at all for a water highway.
your painting makes me want to go get a wheel off and start rebuilding the brake system
so are you redoing the complete braking system?
keep the updates coming!
and yes, por-15 will be fine just layed down right there id clean the surface really good though, keith always says that its all in the prep work

re: My 72 Sport Custom F100
Finished up the front brakes today. All that is left is to pick up the other shock I ordered. Also installed the engine mount towers for the 460.

Shot of the towers and part of the painted steering linkage.

Sorry I haven't been on here in a while to update this, been busy with work and women problems .
So the front end is back on the ground now.
Ordered and received new pre bent steel brake lines and all new parking brake cables from NPD.
Then pulled the rear end out. Then realized I need one new brake drum, decided to replace bolth. None of the parts stores here seem to have them so I Ordered 2 from LMC Truck. Also Ordered some POR-15, (six pack) Marine Clean, and Metal prep.
Also bought a new rubber brake line for the rear end and a new master cylinder. Getting funds up for a new brake booster and new rear shocks.
Went to install the pre bent brake lines from NPD. Everything seems to fit cept the 2 front lines. The ones that go to the drivers side and passenger side drums. They are bolth too short.
But what I Ordered is for a 72 F100 2 wheel drive with power drums....so Idk whats up, will be calling customer service as soon as I get a chance.
Will be posting up pictures Sunday.
Hopefully Ill have the rear end back in, and the parking brake cables installed by Monday night.
Then I need to find a drive shaft, radiator, and shift linkage, and a x member and start ordering parts for the 460

re: My 72 Sport Custom F100
Crusty old 9" out of the truck.
POR-15'd brake drums for the rear.
Painted up leaf spring and new master cylinder.
Another angle.
I also picked up this stuff calld Jasco Prep & Primer and a cleaner calld Purple Power at Lowe's yesterday. Im allready almost out of my quart of Metal Ready and the Jasco claims to do the same thing. The Purple Power claims to be pretty potent, and I have heard that It will remove paint even, so Im going to test these products and report back.
If the Jasco stuff works, would be nice, dont have to pay for shipping and all.

on the lines the fronts stop just above the frame and go down to rubber lines, so you'll need them too.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Already replaced those, the steel lines just aren't long enough to go from the rubber lines to the distribution block.rjewkes wrote:on the lines the fronts stop just above the frame and go down to rubber lines, so you'll need them too.
Used the Purple Power on the other leaf spring today, cleand it up pretty good. Seems comparable to Marine Clean.
