need a photo

Post by Bill Ramsey »

Can one of you guys post a photo of the stock transmission crossmember on an F250 4x4 with FE and NP435? i have 3 different ones from various trucks and they all put the transmission mount at a different height. I would like to know what should be there, and the orientation.

Thanks!

Maybe this is a good enough photo?

Have you found the F26 vin on the frame yet. I bet 100% you have a conversion on your hands. All factory F-250 4x4 trucks had a frame that looked like the one in the photo. Lots more differences too besides the rear cab mount location ...

Joseph, what did you paint your frame with? I like the level of sheen.

Hi,
On this particular build the client has a very restrictive budget. He couldn't afford much, if any chassis and frame prep. So we're covering it for him anyway on us. We stripped the chassis by hand down to bare metal and used Krylon Rust Tough Rust Preventative in Semi-Flat # RTA9203.

I'd prefer a thicker enamel or undercoating on my own project(s), but this did the job pretty good for under $100 bucks. Great coverage and it withstands a lot of abuse.

This truck is getting lots of new goodies, so having a clean platform makes the job that much easier for us before installation of the rest of the drive-train. It's getting a fresh 300-6, 4-speed, etc. It's a '69 Highboy, titled to match the frame. Getting a '67 Donor body. The truck is going to the greater Chicago area.
