67 f100 2wd to 4wd swap questions.

Post by 67_F100 »

I heard that the difference between the 67-72 frames and the 73-79 frames is that the 73-79's are wider in the rear...but they are the same up front.
So my question is, Could I put the bumpside cab and frontend on a dentside frame and then put a flatbed on her?

67,

Fordguy has a point. Read the chassis comparison write-up in the tech articles. It will tell you what you need to know.

Hint: If installing a bump cab on a dent frame is a bolt-on affair, it serves to reason that the opposite would be true too, though I don't know why anyone would want to...unless they intended to re-sell the "Frankenstein" dent as a real dent??? But of course, that would be unethical and probably illegal if the purchaser were uninformed.

Ok so just to clear up what I read.( need more confirmation) if I take a 73-79 4x4 frame and put my 67 front end and cab on it and then install a flatbed there should be no wheelbase issues.

Yeah the front body mount locations will let you put a cab off of any thing from 67-2010 also probably 66 and earlier and 2011 on. now the rear cab mounts change depending on cab stile and wheel base so those have to be custom.
here a 67 siting on an 88 bronco frame.

Fordguy,

I had no idea a Bumpside cab could be mounted on so many different frames.

Did you install leafs on the front of that 1988 Bronco frame?
