Gas Gauge

Post by jf100 »

I seem to have a problem like another user did only when I fill the gas tank up it goes way past the full line and when it runs out of gas it is on a quarter tank. I have replaced the float and the sending unit. Any ideas. Thanks you for any help.

Adjusting the instrument panel regulator would get the gauge back in range. it will also change the swing of all the other gauges too though.

How do you adjust the regulator on the instrument gauges?

It would be a big help if you told us what year your truck is, and whether you're running dual tanks, which tank you're talking about, etc.

If you pull the dash out and locate the instrument panel regulator on the back. there is a small screw or hex screw on the back side in between the terminals. You turn in or out to get the gauge in the proper range. I forget what screwing in vs out does. I believe screwing clockwise increases voltage and counter clockwise decreases voltage. I will try to find a pic of what if your not familiar with that they are or what they look like.
