Hi,

On my 1970 F250 with a 390,.. the negative battery cable connects to a bolt on the side of the block(passenger side).

As for the solenoid,.. I had one do that to me years ago. The contacts in the solenoid arch weld together and won't open. Sometimes hitting it with something metal will pop them back open. Time for a new one.

Hi,

Fortunately the cables are relatively cheap,.... I would replace them if there integrity is in question.
