new starter, new terminal?

Post by Fake Name »

I bought a Powermaster starter from another listmember, and noticed it has an additional terminal on it. The starter I'm removing has a single 3/8 lug terminal, and when I power it off the truck with jumper cables, the starter kicks the solenoid and spins the motor.

But not so with the new starter. The large terminal is labeled "battery" and the smaller terminal is "ign".

Am I correct in assuming with the new starter I'll need to supply it with a large battery wire on the big lug and a smaller wire that is currently (ha- I said currently while talking about electricity!) attached to the fender-mounted starter solenoid? The "s" wire?

So will this eliminate the fender-mounter solenoid?

thanks.

Try it with a jumper from Bat to Ignition and then jump it with your cables . If it spins you have a winner for removing the Fender Starter relay.
