alternator bracket

Post by ls2twnturb1200 »

Ive got a 68 f-350 that i just swaped a new 390 into and cant figure out how to put the alt back on. I dont know if im missing somthing but i have the braket that bolts to the waterpump and the adjuster braket. My problem is that the long bolt that goes through the alt is long enough to go into the head but is there supposed to be a spacer on that bolt to hold the alt out. NEED HELP FAST!!!

Check this out:

Do a search for belts on the site or similar. Routing has been discussed several times, but I cannot find all the threads.

Sounds like you need a 3/8 course bolt about 6" long and lots of washers.(The bolt with a 5/8 head). Or a 1/2-- 1/2 drive socket should work for a spacer if you cut it down a bit. :shh:

go to Home depo or some other hardware store, and get a bolt and some washers. and some electrical tape to rap the washers together.
WHAT ?

There is a spacer in between the Alt and head.
