Tail Lamp Relay

Post by NothingLikeIt »

Could anyone tell me where the tail lamp relay would be in my 67 250 CS? My dogs thought that they would go ahead and rip out my leads.

Quite a pit crew you have there. So far my dog has limited himself to running around under the truck, getting nice and oily. Sorry but I can't help with the tail lamp relay question.

There is no tail lamp relay. Turn signal and emergency flasher relays are under the dash.

My '70 C.S. has a tail lamp relay above the right side kick panel. You should be able to access it if you pull your glove box liner.

Well, I learned something new, too. I didn't know the Camper Specials had a taillight relay, but it sure makes sense, as they had a lot of extra lights to handle. I know they have one humongous flasher, compared to the customs. I love the knowledge base we have here.

Well, that's actually not a relay mounted on the passenger-side kick panel, it's a 25-amp circuit breaker, and I've only seen those on Camper Specials. See the following wiring schematic:

On a related note: The Camper Special option on light trucks provides a plug connector on the left-hand frame rail to which taillamp connections can be made directly.

When I turn on my headlight switch I hear a contact click from that area, always thought it was a relay.

It is, there's a relay plus a circuit breaker mounted there. Camper Specials have those for the auxiliary lights which come on with the parking lights.

Thanks Barry....I wasn't aware of that. I've only seen a couple and didn't look at them that closely, and I didn't see any mention of a relay in the wiring schematics, so...

You're right, they don't show up on the wiring diagrams except like here:
http://www.fordification.com/images/sch ... arkers.jpg

Should have clarified, they come on with the parking lights and stay on with the headlights.
