Classic Auto Air

Post by dotcentral »

Anyone familiar with this company's product?

Their pitch makes it sound like all the other companies stuff is junk. Not sure how much of that is true.

So I'm supposed to pay more for aftermarket air conditioning, than I did for my whole truck?

No thanks... I scrounge and piece together a period correct system with new dryer/condensor.

Cool. Don't forget a new compressor that works with well r134 and control levers that work without sticking. And a contemporary compressor that is more efficient than the old-style. Saves ga$. And the seals for the little flapper doors that control the air flow direction. Oh, and a new blower motor. Plus you may want to replace the heater core- it's probably 40 years old, too. A receiver/dryer that works and a condensor that will support and increased cooling capability. And so on.

My priority is performance and reliability, not necessarily price. I want to do the job a single time, not spend more time messing with a piecemeal system. I want to work hard on it ONCE, and forget about it.

To each his own...

I've already replaced my heater core.. replaced the valve that controls the flow to the heater core... redid all the seals... Replaced the blower motor.. and dont have to worry about the levers with the A/C unit I'm using:

I rebuilt my old compressor... just have to find/buy a new condesor, dryer, and get some new A/C lines built.

Even had a a friend give me a freebie for the change over kit to R134.

I wish I had 1200.00 to spend on the truck... period... much less on an A/C system.

There's lots of ways to skin a cat. There's no right or wrong way.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of them. And what about their claims that the other aftermarket systems are inferior? Maybe some of our a/c experts have an opinion on this claim?

Just got their catalog, and I like it a lot. Lots of ways to go- total replacement (using the factory dash panel!) or OEM replacement parts, or upgrade parts to use with the existing system, like Sanden compressors and better condensors.

I'll let you know.

I have one of their daily driver systems. I have been pleased with them. There customer service is really good. I had the system for over a year before installing it and the compressor was not right . It had the line connections on the back instead of the side. They replaced it with no issue and paid shipping.
