Neutral Safety Switch

Post by 1970pickup »

I am swapping an automatic in place of the three speed in my 1970 P/U. The steering column has a neutral safety switch which has a pigtail with a plug. Does my stick shift truck have a provision in the harness to plug this in or will I have to rewire. Any help appreciated !

You don't need to hook it up just make sure you are in park/neutral when you start the truck. also if you stall at a stop sign its nice to be able to start in gear. :shh:

but if you want to hook it up you splice in to the red wire with a blue stripe. switch in the middle. And for back up lights you need to find the black wire with a red stripe in a 3 speed its normally goes to the trans so you will need to pull the wires back up in to the cab and link it to the safety switch (black wires with a red line)
WHAT ?
