Firewal seal question (yet another)

Postby OldRedFord on Fri Nov 20, 2009 8:38 pm

Does NPD or anybody have a replacement seal for the metal bar that hooks to the brake pedal that passes through the firewall?

On a side note, how do you get the seal off the steering column? Have to replace that also.

i dont think the booster rod seals are available. to get the seal off of the column i think you have to take the top of the column apart to let it slide up and come off.

Hey Tim, I've noticed that those seals come with new power brake boosters, but I haven't seen them available piecemeal.

The seal off of my old brake booster is in OK condition.  It's not new anymore but it's not all shredded up or melted or anything.  Would you like to see a photo of it to see whether you'd like it?  I'd mail it to you if you wanted it.

Hey Tim, no problem!  I just went out in the garage and took some photos.  I'll post them up here in under 15 minutes.

Okay Tim, here are the various seal-like things on my old power booster--you're more than welcome to whatever you like.

Most of these photos will enlarge when you click on them:

And this rubber seal wasn't looking as red hot as I remembered.  It has a pretty big crack in it.

Tim, did you recently buy a new booster?  And if so, has it already arrived?  I'm guessing that it will include all the seals you see here, only in nice new condition.  If not, let me know what you'd like!

Have an excellent weekend Tim!!!

Yea Robroy, I got a new booster. When I took the old one off something was rattleing around inside. Tried to shake it out but no luck. I figured it cant be a good thing so I got a new one. Thats when I figured out that someone may have added power brakes to my tuck.

What I am needing is the grommet on the firewall. The one I have is for the dentside booster I took off. And since I painted the new booster I got (which is for a bump) I cant return it.

Immediate right of the booster bracket (which I need to change).
