front bumpers

Postby fordman on Thu Nov 05, 2009 12:12 am

i have a 71 F100 4wd. it has no bumper for it. i had one at the junkyard picked out. and they were savign it. but some idiot wasnt watching what he was doing and dented the blank out of it. so i knew there was a 79 super cab 4wd with a bumper on it. do the 79 frames on 4wd get wider in hte front like the 79 2wd does? will this bumper fit? how about the 80's vans will those bumpers fit? without drilling new holes in them? my last alternative is to use the dented bumper i have or build my own bumper out of huge stuff. and make a god awful looking bumper.

All '65-'79 pickup frames are the same width on the front half of the frame. It's the back half of the frame where the width varies after '73. The '78-'79 pickup front bumpers will fit, but they won't look correct...they're shaped a little differently.

I have no idea about van framerail spacing or how the bumper is attached, so I can't offer anything there.
