Wood bed floor conversion

Post by jthulan »

I am thinking about converting my steel bed floor to wood. It is not a flareside truck and the bed is not in real bad shape, but I wonder if anyone else has done this conversion. I was figuring I would need to keep the flat metal ahead of and behind the wheel arches to the sides and just do the wood in the center field.

Anyone? :hmm:

You can install a wood floor on top of the steel floor. Here is a link to a You Tube video showing Stacey David installing one.

You can make your own, just use 1" square tubing to make your cross pc's under the wood

You could use aluminum or steel T bar also:

Yep, I'm thinking I am going to have to create something from scratch.

jthulan, did you ever get anywhere with this? Pics or it didn't happen!

Randle, I'm from Western Kentucky, Hopkinsville area (Crofton to be exact). My bump lives there in a garage at my dad's at the moment. Dad was a contractor so I plan on using up the space in his shop. I bought him down here in your front yard BrockGrimes in Warner Robins, Georgia. I drove up towards you jthulan to Lexington (where I claim as home and plan to retire. I'm also planning to go back to UK for architecture) before my last deployment and then took him to Crofton.

Small world.

I'm in the middle of doing this myself, I Currently have everything removed. like you I'm going to leave the metal in front and behind the fender and replace the center. My main issue is keeping the wood flush with the existing metal. planning on tackling it this weekend. I'll try to post some pictures next week depending on how far I get..
