arm rests

Post by 1guydude »

So I saw on dennis carpenter some black arm rests and tan ones....I don't know wat ill go with but they didn't have the mounting hardware. Hardware was for a 68' and up. Someone shine some light on this for me...or tell me what size screws to get both length and diameter so I can install em.... thanks

Not sure on the '67's but I bet it's different from the '68 and up stuff which was similar to a 3/8" wood screw with a flanged hex head.

Well shoot guys. This is where i get confused. Which isnt hard btw.... it shows in tech data of differenting the trucks here that the 67' didnt have arm rests. Than the 68' and up didnt have the door handle? Mine must have 68' door panels.

Nope.....those are 67 panels for sure....they dont look like my 68 panels because my inside handle is behind the armrest....those 2 holes must be there for a reason.....unfortunately i can't remember myself..... :?

Here's a photo of mine to show the difference.....

I found this one for sale on eBay - he has a photo of the door panel with the armrest......it will show you what you are looking for!

I have 6 extra, brand new retainers..... I JUST put my arm rests on yesterday, and never realized that the retainers were already there, before I ordered.

I can take a screw back out and measure, but as stated above:
they are (I think) a number 14, about 2.5" long

I got mine from NPD. The screws that it came with, were too long and caused the window to bind up. When I ordered a screw kit from LMC, the correct length were included.

I just found this out yesterday. My screws and retainers were ordered from LMC, armrests from Dennis Carpenter.

I am going to cut mine down, I guess. I will measure the size and report back, after finding the correct length.

THE CORRECT SIZE (for 1971 anyway....) IS: #14 screws, 1.5" long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be different for other types/brands of arm rests that may not have the counterbore as deep, or deeper than the dennis carpenter units that I bought.

Can any of you measure the arm rests? I need to know total length and width. My truck had one and it fell apart a long time ago. I'm thinking of making a pair our of either mesquite wood or cholla wood .
