eBay Dash Pad

Post by gte619n »

Hey guy!

Just picked up a 1970 F100 Ranger XLT long bed yesterday. My first truck! Pretty excited about it, it's a good, honest old truck. The dash pad is absolutely OBLITERATED so I'd like to replace it. I've found some of the "OEM" stamping ones but they're $450!

Does anyone have any experience with this one from eBay?

Thanks!

There's a reason they get $450 for them. ...Made with original Ford tooling.... This forum is full of horror stories of guys who bought the cheaper knockoffs. Misalignment, insufficient mounting studs, dislocated mounting studs, 13 studs on the OEM but only 4 on the knockoff, etc. I wouldn't recommend it.

Well righty!

Who makes the best pad for dollar?

Also, my interior is medium ivy. Would this car have had a black dash pad or another color? The one that's there is... indeterminate, let's say...

Thanks!

You can never go wrong with Dennis Carpenter. You can buy it neutral and dye it the color you want or just go with black. http://dennis-carpenter.com/dash-panel- ... 5004282-N/ If you want to go cheap for now you can just buy the plastic cap style for around $100. Put a little foam under it and silicone it down for a while. http://www.jcwhitney.com/coverlay-dashb ... 0y1968g2j1

Definitely Dennis Carpenter - after some of the stuff I've bought from LMC and from what the guys on here have said I buy from them unless for some reason they don't have it - worth every penny in quality and aggravation saved............ :woohoo:

I bought one of those dash pads from EBay. It's actually not a bad fit. It's not perfect, but the mounting studs were all there and matched up with the dash holes fairly well. You do have to take the old defroster vents from the original dash pad and cut them down to fit. Instructions are included showing two sides cut off. I cut all four sides off for a better fit. My truck is not ever going to be a show piece, just want a better dash pad than the half eaten away pad it had.

If someone decides to use one of these dash pads, replace the washers provided with larger fender washers. The ones provided are small enough to slip through the bolt slots on the top of the dashboard
