Inside door handle

My original one went bad, and a few months ago I put in a good used one that I got from Fordman...After working fine for a couple of months, it started doing the same thing---getting stuck when I pulled it in and having to use the outside door handle to get out....I have to think that something is wrong inside the door...Anybody know what to check for?...BTW, Fordman, if you're reading this, I'll be in the market for another driver's side one, if you got any more...

ive got a set on ebay right now. i can get some from a van but they are black plastic ones. the base is metal. maybe the inner mechinism is going bad. or dirty. usually when the door handle goes bad it is because the tang that activates the inner mechinism is worn off or broken. maybe the inner mechisim is worn or broken or dirty as i ws saying.

I have this same problem, although I've never replaced the original interior door handles. I took my driver's side door apart a few months ago to examine the handle and the linkage. My handles' tab may have worn down, because the handle would get stuck against the armrest(that's how far back you'd have to pull it). I would either replace the handles(again if you've already) or I would suggest to somehow shorten or bend the linkage rod in the door, so that you don't have to pull back as far as you use to. But, if your handles aren't working now, they might not work even after adjusting the linkage.

Thanks, guys...I'm going to dig into it one of these weekends and see if I can spot something....My old one was doing the same thing---pull it all the way to the arm rest to get it to engage until it finally quit working altogether....The replacement worked fine for a couple of months, and now it ain't----so there must be something out of whack inside the door...

here are some pics of a passenger door handle and latch mechinism. i posted these so it may help others understand how these work. plus it is easier to see than takign them out of thier doors just to look at them. the few guesses i have would be in pic 1. that the mech. itself could be bent or damaged in some way. and the door handle itself pushes up on the lever part of the mech.
in pic 2 it shows how the rod goes to the latch from the handle mech. i dont think bending is the correct fix but it could take up slack in a work handle or latch mech. one other thing that can go bad is the plastic grommets on the rod or around the rod. those could break or wear out.

here in pic three there isnt much to go wrong if the outer handle works. the angle bracket for the inner rod just comes down and pushes on the outer handle lever.  so if the outer handle works the latch should be good. unless the rod or the plastic grommet is worn or broken on that end. about the only thing i think that can go bad with the door latch itself is the jaws that go around the striker can wear down. or maybe one of the springs inside of the latch break.
