Correct gear shift knob

Post by Dr Farnsworth »

The gear shift knob is missing from my truck and I am trying to locate the right one to put on it.

I have looked on dennis-carpenter.com and cgfordparts.com for the correct gear shift knob to put on my 1969 F100 automatic, but neither website shows one for a 1969 model.

Can someone point me in the right direction or post some pictures of what the correct knob looks like?

Thank you!

This is a daunting task. I looked for one for my '70 F250 for quite some time, and some of the same places you did. I found that the best place to look was on eBay motors, occasionally you can find them there. Shy of that, you might be able to check local junk yards, but it seems no one is making factory reproduction knobs.

I can provide you a picture of the 1968 standard 4... but I couldnt tell you where on earth to actually find one. Check on ebay, and dont exclude the dent side era 73-79 or the slicks 64-66... they probably have very very similar knobs (though without looking i cant be sure)

heres an original 4 speed (granny 1st) knob. I don't know if there were different ones or not... but this is what mine came with.

Guys, the OP stated he has an automatic trans.

To the OP...did a previous owner install a floor shifter for your auto trans???

If you are looking for a bumpside column shift knob, then LMC sell them....

Item 25 on this page is the right one for 64-70: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=107

Or you can go with the chrome 71-72 knob. Item 19 on this page: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=108

And I have the chrome one on my 69. So it works for other years...
