Yes, Christian Hazel from JP Magazine did one a few years ago("Hazels' Sixty"). Started with a Dodge rear and put all Crane C's and knuckles with all the bling. Came out to right around what you would spend on buying a Dynatrac Front 60. Lots of work, but can be done.

With a front axle, you usually want a high pinion, too.

Good point. I really don't understand why anyone would spend as much to turn a rear 60 into a front axle as a dynatrac piece would cost. The dynatrac stuff is top notch. A ******* low pinion 60 front made from rear parts is not worth a whole lot.
