optima battery

Post by splavin90 »

will an optima battery turn over my 240 I6, and will it turn over my 390

is a yellow top better than a red top?

Yes, an optima should work just fine.

Yellow top is a deep discharge. Red top is the regular. For normal use, the red top should be okay.

In a pinch, just about any 12 volt battery that fits in the tray should turn over the engine.

The big difference is available power, longevity, and warranty service.

Optima are great batteries. If you can get one at a good price, go for it.

yes definetly the red tops have i think 750 CCA and the yellow tops have 1200CCA. i have always heard that if you take your engine displacement in Cubic inches and double it that that is how many CCA you should have. In example your 240x2 is 480 so yes a red top will do just fine. If you plan on running allot of electronics, i would go with a yellow top.
