F350 coil springs

1970 F350 DRW. It seems my truck is listing a bit to the port side. I suppose that after 36 years the springs must be getting a little soft. I've done some searching but haven't been able to find a source for F350 coils. Found lots for 1/2 and 3/4 ton, but none for 1 ton. I know that leaf springs can be re arched. can coils be re...coiled? or what ever it'd be called?

i know to lower coils you can heat them up and compress them. maybe the reverse is true i don't know. maybe if you could find a way to heat them and stretch them back out.

I would think a spring shop can wind a spring to factory or custom specs. without too much problem.

Heating a spring to lower it is actually a no-no! :nono: Yes, that was how it was done a couple decades ago, before anyone knew any better, but heating a coil spring removes the temper and ruins the spring. And once the temper is gone, it will continue to drop, on it's own, over a relatively short period of time. I guess the way I look at it is if you're going to do it, then do it right once....so you don't have to re-do it.

your right about heating the spring to lower it i was just giving an example for a possible fix.

How about some blow-up sumo wrestling outfits? My sister bought a pair of them for her husband for their 10th anniversary :? :hmm:

Get in touch with the folks at Eaton. If they don't carry them, they can make them easily. they can also do stuff to specs you supply, for whatever you want.

I think the sumo suits would be best. Remember there is only one Tarzan and many sumo wrestlers.
I'll have to find a spring shop and call them. I just wanted to ask the potentially stupid question of friends first. Actually a spring shop heats the spring to soften and reshape it, and then retempers the spring afterward. I suppose the art is in tempering the spring after the work is done. As I said, I had leaf springs done, just never coils. All my trucks have had leafs all around until this one.
It seems like removing the coils shouldn't be very tuff as long as I use plenty of penetrating oil.
