CV suspension mods

Post by Twisted_Steel »

For you engineer fellas,

Is the CV cradle under the frame a solid piece or is it hollow?
and if it is a solid plate, is it possible to cut a section out of the middle and use steel plates bolted thru the cross member to strengthen it enough to be used for different applications?

It’s solid on the ends where it mates to the frame with a hollow portion through the middle under the engine area. If you look at pics you can see the opening under the steering rack area.

I belong to a Facebook group that does CV swaps on all kinds of vehicles. There is a guy on there that makes a kit that replaces the aluminum cross member with his own design that narrows the track width of the frontend. It will fit many different vehicles. If you want I can post information about it here. If I hadn't already had my CV installed I would be considering it. Let me know.
