1972 F100 to Crown Vic.

Post by svttech »

Hello to all. Just recently acquired a 1972 F100 with a 5.0 and 3 speed manual. Truck has amazing patina. Was in a non running/ driving condition when i got it. Plans were to swap engine, transmission, and wiring from a 2003- up police car. Seems to be a popular swap. I spent a day or so getting the truck up running and driving. Rebuilt the steering column. Here is my question. After getting the truck running and driving, it drives great. Engine and transmission work flawlessly. Has plenty of power and doesnt smoke. I hate to cut up a truck that really does not need anything. I plan on making it a daily driven shop truck. Its winter green and white two tone. What would you guys do? Im really thinking about swapping the 3 speed for an AOD transmission and installing drop I beams, and 4 wheel disc brakes. Ill let you guys chime in with your thoughts. Thank you for your time.

Great driver i simple and keeps simple parts. So 302 aod is fantastic choice just upgrade the overdrive band. 4 wheel discs is not necessary just on the front leave drums on the back with the 9 inch. Vicky front is okay or djm drop beams. Remember a great handling race truck has full vic stuff a good shop truck driver is simple clean and efficient my :2cents:
