Power steering Question

Post by jf100 »

I got pump, reservoir, Steering column and wheel, gear box off of a 72 ranger with a 390 will that work on a 302? I am still looking for the brackets to fit the 302 and the pulleys. Thank you for any help.

Yep. Brackets should still be out there form a fairlane or mustang. Try to get all the pulley's off a donor engine because Ford changed stuff over the years.

it made my swap a little more complicated, but I opted for the newer style pump, it came out in 78 or 79... luckily they used the same steering box setup in the dent side trucks, I was able to get power steering lines for a 1979 f150 and it bolted right up to my 1972 f250 donor power steering box. I was told the later pumps push better pressure than the older ones so I decided to try the "more reputable" pump... just a thought... but yea, all your parts will work, now you just have to find a 302 PS bracket and pullys to match the rest of your engine setup.

Good luck, the add of power steering to my f100 was a huge win in the comfort department.
