Re: wrong steering gear?
You didn't say if this was power steering or not, they are different. As long as the bolt hole pattern matches and the length between the rag joint and the pitman arm shaft are the same, you're fine. In actuality, your new one looks more like mine than your old one. Is kind of hard to tell from your pics but the only real difference I see is the shape of the end of the gear. Could be due to model changes between '69 and '70. http://www.fordification.com/tech/powersteering.htm Here's some photos of the power steering gear I salvaged from my '71 parts truck.

Re: wrong steering gear?
Sargentrs, that looks like my old one. It is a ps gear by the way. At the 90* part, my old gear has 2 bolts holding on that cover. The new gear has 4 bolts. I'm just thinking that part is gonna hit the drivers side exhaust manifold. I think I'm gonna check the turn ratio also.

Re: wrong steering gear?
found a good replacement off Rock Auto. Total cost was what AZ wanted to charge me just for the gear, not including the core. Exact replacement.
