STICKY: Brake Diagnosis / Troubleshooting

Post by FORDification »

In December 1966, Ford released a 52-page Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) which focused solely on brake system troubleshooting and diagnosis. This TSB article has been transcribed in its' entirety to the TSB Database and includes troubleshooting procedures for all Ford vehicles, including medium/heavy trucks.

Although the article is dated 1966, very little changed in the braking systems over the next few years, so that most aspects of this troubleshooting guide is still very applicable to later vehicles.

FYI: The TSB article does include references to 'trucks' but in this case it generally refers to medium/heavy trucks. As such, any references to wedge-style or cam-style brakes can be disregarded....unless you're using the article to troubleshoot a medium/heavy truck so equipped.
