Leaf Spring Anti-squeak pads

Post by bickgibbs »

Does anyone have a source for the rubber anti-squeak pads that go between the leaf springs?

Try Speedway Motors.

They even carry UHMW plastic liners if you want to slick 'em up.

UHMW- ultra high molecular weight

EBay. Seriously. I just ordered some, unfortunately before I took apart my spring packs to find that I could have ordered direct fit ones. I ordered the ones with the tit that goes through a hole in the spring that I planned on drilling. The stock ones have a round recess in the spring tip that the stock pads fit in.

I believe they are talking about in the center of the leaves, between each leaf, where they bolt together with the center bolt, NOT the spring tip pads, which every new vehicle on the road today comes with. They say not to paint the leaves either in that area, as the paint will wear away and the center bolt with then loosen and allow the leaves to pivot. Same reason for not using Teflon or UHMW plastic, etc. in that area.

guhfluh is correct, unless the OE used a liner between the leaves in the centerbolt area, do not add them.
As for the tip inserts, we have them all. Go check them out at www.eatondetroitspring.com/odering/attaching-parts/
Select Tip Inserts from the drop down and they will all appear.
Feel free to contact us direct for any and all spring questions.

Thanks, I didn't know you guys had them. It looks like either 33FI9* or 33FI5* are the stock ones for F100's, but I'm not sure which ones. I think it's the round ones(33FI5*), but mine were so worn away, I can't tell.

What year truck? The FI9 is for 2.5 inch wide springs and is normaly used on cars. The FI9 is for 1.75, 2 and 2.25 wide springs. Both are used on leaves that are cupped.

67-72 F100 springs are 2.25" wide.

The FI5 would be the tip insert to use.
