12v switched power to internal ballast coil

Post by CJ,s 67 F100 »

Just got my truck running and wanted to share this. 67 F100 with a new 390. I Put the Pertronixs Ignitor in with a new Flame Thrower (1.5 ohm) coil after my Crane XRi never worked right. The Crane XRi wiped out the resister in my resister wire so I had to run a 12 volt switched power source to the + side of the coil and to the Pertronixs red wire. Thanks to a lot of help I found out all I had to do was tap into the red w/ green stripe wire out of the back of my ign. switch and run this wire to my coil + and tie the red wire off my Pertronixs to the + side of the coil. I also learned that the Crane XRi was supposed to be powered by a switched 12v power source and use a .6 or .7 ohm coil with it. I hope this saves some one from my mistake.
