3 Speed Column Shift Pin

Post by RavenBlack67 »

The shift pin broke that holds my shift lever in the column. That was no fun. I am looking at parts to replace and the pin that was inside my 1967 F100 3 speed column shift looked like two caps with a spring like this:

One of the caps was in pieces and the spring was stretched and bent when I got it out. That part is supposed to be for much older F100's 53-55. The part recommended by some parts websites that I've just found are showing a rolled solid piece of metal like this:

Which is the correct part and how is it supposed to stay in place? Just tap it in? Thanks.
